The Joy of Pin Trading – Why It Means So Much to Me
There’s something magical about finding a hobby that feels like home. For me, that hobby is Disney Pin Trading. What started as a simple curiosity has grown into a source of joy, creativity, and comfort during some of life’s most challenging moments. Today, I want to share why this hobby matters so much to me—and why I believe everyone should have something they truly love.
How It All Began
I still remember the first time I discovered Disney pins on a trip to Walt Disney World. Pin trading officially began in 2000, but I bought my first pin in 2006. It was a Christmas pin featuring Minnie Mouse looking into an ornament, seeing her reflection. At the time, my daughter was just 10 months old and fascinated by her own reflection. That tiny moment sparked something in me—a desire to collect pins that told stories and captured memories.
From then on, every trip to Walt Disney World became an opportunity to add to my collection. Each pin represented a memory, a piece of magic I could hold onto.
Finding Joy in Hard Times
In 2020, the world changed in ways none of us could have imagined. During that time, I discovered online pin trading groups on Facebook. We were all searching for simple joys in a confusing world. Between September 2020 and September 2021, my family endured unimaginable loss—my mom, my husband’s mom, two family members, and a lifelong friend all passed away. I was also diagnosed with melanoma.
After surgery, while recovering, I began building a website dedicated to pin trading. That project became a lifeline—a way to focus on something positive when everything else felt overwhelming. This hobby didn’t just fill my time; it helped me heal.
Why It Still Matters
What I love most about pin trading isn’t just the pins—it’s the people. I’ve met incredible friends who share the same passion. It’s amazing how something so simple can create such strong connections and bring so much joy. For me, pin trading is more than a hobby—it’s a reminder that even in difficult times, there’s magic to be found.
Final Thoughts
If you’ve ever considered starting a hobby, I encourage you to find something that sparks joy for you. It doesn’t have to be big or expensive—just something that makes you smile. For me, that’s Disney Pin Trading. And I’m so grateful for the magic it’s brought into my life.
