Disney World… but Make It Freezing

We’re not people who complain about cooler weather. A light jacket? Love it. Not sweating through your clothes by 10 a.m.? Even better.

But this trip to Walt Disney World?
This was not cool.
This was COLD cold.

The kind of cold we expected at home.

Florida, Explain Yourself

When we arrived into Orlando. 

Ice. Actual ice.

At Disney World.

You expect Mickey-shaped waffles, not frost.

Definitely not the Cooling Area we were expecting  

We went to the Ratatouille ride. More Ice

Many Gardens were covered with white plastic to keep the frost off of them 

The Trees Were Not Okay

Disney landscaping is usually flawless — lush, green, and aggressively healthy-looking. This time, though, the cold clearly caught everything off guard.

Leaves were brown and curled. Plants looked droopy and sad. 

Bundled-Up Magic

Seeing people in winter coats, hats, and gloves at Disney is already strange. Seeing Cast Members bundled up really drives it home. 

How do you know it is cold at Disney without saying it is cold at Disney?

When the racks of warmer clothing comes out! 

We didn’t hate it — but it definitely changed the vibe. No leisurely lingering. No pretending it was warm. Just brisk walking and hot drinks like they were survival tools. This was my first trip where I didn't have a Dole Whip!

Still Magical… Just With More Layers

Despite the cold (or maybe because of it), the trip was memorable in a way we never expected. Not many people can say they’ve seen frost damage at Disney World or felt their fingers go numb while waiting for a ride.

There was something oddly beautiful about it too — icy mornings, quieter paths, and that shared disbelief with total strangers like, “So… this is happening.”

Would We Do It Again?

We don’t regret it. But next time, we’ll pack like we’re visiting all climates just in case.

Disney is known for controlling every detail — except the weather. And this time, winter showed up uninvited and stayed long enough to make its point.

Lesson learned:
You can escape reality at Disney…
…but apparently not the cold.
